Here are a few suggestions:

1.  There is no substitute for reading & rereading the whole book of Jer.  Pick a 6 month period to read & reread Jer numerous times in a row.

2.  Reflect on what Jer has to say about the human “heart” in Jer 3:10, 17, 6:10, 9:12-16, 12:2, 13:10, 17:9-10, 19:15, 22:21, 23:17 & 23; see also Dt 29:4. & Ps 40:8.

3. Reflect on what Jer has to say about our need to “hear” (“listen”) & “obey” God in Jer 4:4, 6:19, 9:13-14, 11,6-8, 16:11, 18:18, 19:15, 22:21, 26:1-9, 12, 32:23; see also all over Dt (Dt 28:45 is one of many; remember “obey” usually = “hear” in Hebrew).

3. Reflect on what Jer has to say about our need for a new or  “circumcised heart” in Jer 4:4, 9:25-26, 24:7, 31:33, 32:39-41, Ezek 11:19, & 36:26-27.  See also Dt 6:5-6, 10:16, 29:4, 30:1-6;  & Rom 2:28-29.

3. Reflect on where Jer 31:31-34 is quoted in the NT – Mt 26:28, Lk 22:30, Rom 11:27, 2 Cor 3:1-14, Heb 8:8-10, 10:16-17 & 100’s of allusions.
